Thrilled to announce the completion of the mural in the entrance of Haus D @FH Potsdam Campus.

Over the past three weeks, the entrance area of our building has undergone a stunning transformation, thanks to Laila, Malou, and Nele—the three participants of my class “Walls Walls Walls” who won the internal competition.
Their concept references the facade cladding of the former FHP building near Alter Markt in Potsdam. Like many prestigious former GDR buildings in other towns, this building also disappeared from the city center and was demolished in 2018. Remnants of its facade can still be found in various locations across Potsdam. The mural thus joins this series of references.

The road to the finished mural wasn’t without its hurdles. During the initial phase, we encountered technical difficulties with the wall surface. It became clear that the existing surface was not suitable for taping and had to be sanded down completely. This unexpected step required an extra couple of days, but it ensured a much cleaner finishing as well as longevity of the artwork.

After three weeks of meticulous work—and around 400 meters of tape—the mural is finally complete. It has turned a once-plain entryway into an inspiring and welcoming space and connects it to a fraction of Potsdam’s architectural history.
